Gathering Patients’ Insurance Information
When a patient adds their insurance information to their account, it will show up on the right side of the “face sheet” in their chart. Always verify that their insurance information is accurate and up-to-date. We should also ask them to send us a picture of the front and back of their insurance cards as well. They can do so by attaching a picture of their card to an in-app message by using the green paperclip (test this out on your own account).
Our portal is connected to a technology platform that will pull a patient’s specific insurance information in real-time IF the insurance plan is located in the drop-down list and the patient inputs their correct insurance ID number.
The Insurance & Benefits tab in their chart will turn green if everything works correctly, and you (and the patient) can view detailed information about a patient’s individual and family deductibles, allowances, and and out-of-pocket max. This unique feature also allows you to see how much deductible is remaining.
